Janet Ruth Godfrey

Funeral services will be held for Janet Ruth Godfrey, 61, of Ville Platte, at St. John Baptist Church in Ville Platte at 3 p.m., Saturday, April 2. Burial will follow in the St. John Memorial Cemetery.
Ms. Godfrey died Sunday, March 27, 2016, at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Alexandria.
Survivors include one daughter, Atty. Deidra Godfrey of Ville Platte; one grandchild, Ethan Brace Pleasant of Ville Platte; two sisters, Priscilla G. Charles of Lafayette and Lisa G. Slaughter (Chris) of Ville Platte; three brothers, Rev. Paul Godfrey (Marian) of Baldwin, Curtis L. Godfrey of Greenwood, Mississippi, and David Godfrey (Pat) of Missouri City, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Cynthia T. Godfrey of Baton Rouge and Elaine L. Godfrey of Lafayette; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Brace B. Godfrey Sr. and Ezola Harrison Godfrey; two brothers, Brace B. Godfrey Jr. and Donald “Duck” Godfrey; and one sister, Ophelia Godfrey.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Saturday, April 2, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at St. John Baptist Church.
Rev. Freddie Jack will officiate.
