Jimmy Richard

MAMOU - Funeral services were held for Jimmy Richard, 74, of Mamou, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou at 3 p.m., Tuesday, March 31. Burial followed in the New St. Ann’s Cemetery.
A wonderful husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather, Mr. Richard died Saturday, March 28, 2015, at his residence. He was a coach for the Mamou Youth Program and coached American Legion Baseball. He also was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, an avid LSU fan and a great fisherman.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Jackie Moreau Richard of Mamou; one son, Tim Richard and his wife, Laura, of Moss Bluff; one daughter, Celeste Richard of Lafayette; four brothers, David Glenn Richard of Opelousas, Bobby Richard of Sunset, Roland Richard of Richard and Genie Richard of Baton Rouge; three sisters, Patsy Curtis of Erwinville and Linda Fontenot and Shirley DeCapio, both of Opelousas; five grandchildren, Travis Laughlin of Scott, Shelby Richard Ewing and her husband, Grant, and Landon Ross Richard, all of Moss Bluff, and Payton Aucoin and Alex Jolet, both of Lafayette; one great-granddaughter, Cynthia “Cyndi” Laughlin of Carencro; and one step-great-grandson, Lane Sellers of Carencro.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Armand Richard Jr. and Lena Richard; his mother-in-law, Beverly F. Moreau; one daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” Richard Laughlin; two brothers, Roy Richard and Dudley Richard; and one sister, Delores Madden.
Pall bearers were Alex Jolet, Chad Veillon, Shawn Fontenot, Paul Fontenot, Blair Rivette and John Reed.
Father Mark Melancon officiated.
