John R. “Cha Cha” Fontenot Sr.

MAMOU - Funeral services were held for John R. “Cha Cha” Fontenot Sr., 70, of Mamou, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou at 10 a.m., Saturday, December 6. Burial followed in the New St. Ann’s Cemetery.
A wonderful father, grandfather, brother and friend, Mr. Fontenot died Wednesday, December 3, 2014, at his residence. He worked as an unemployment officer with the State of Louisiana for 35 years.
Survivors include his three precious children, Julia Johnson and her husband, Randy, and Carolyn Breaux and her husband, Glenn, all of Mamou, and John Richard Fontenot II and his wife, Ashley, of Houma; two brothers, Michael B. Fontenot and his companion, Valerie Douget, of Reddell and Eddie Jean “To To” Fontenot of Mamou; five grandchildren, Courtney Johnson, Aaron Johnson, Tori Breaux, Remy Fontenot and Cooper Fontenot; one step-grandchild, Brandon Breaux and his wife, Raconda; and one step-great-grandchild, Lairian Breaux.
He was preceded in death by his precious wife, Carole Lynn Fontenot; and his parents, Jeffery and Emma Lou Fontenot.
Father Alphonse Thainese officiated.
