A celebration of life service will be held for John Thomas Dowell, 87, of Ville Platte, at the New Life Assembly of God Church in Ville Platte at 2 p.m., Sunday, October 12.
Mr. Dowell died Wednesday, October 1, 2014, at his residence after a brief battle with cancer.
Survivors include three daughters, Gaile Guillory and her husband, Terry, Faye Muse and her husband, Jesse, and Sue Pomier, all of Ville Platte; one sister, Mildred Antley of Chatam; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cecelia Ardoin Dowell; his parents, G.W. Dowell and Louise Dowell; one brother, Don R. Dowell; and one niece, Diane Helmer.
Pastor Brian Dore’ will officiate.
