Joseph “Silton” DeVillier

LAKE CHARLES - Funeral services will be held for Joseph “Silton” DeVillier, 79, of Lake Charles, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Lake Charles at 1 p.m., Saturday, January 18. Burial will follow in the Consolata Cemetery.
A native of Ville Platte, Mr. DeVillier died Wednesday, January 15, 2014, in a local hospital. He worked in the oil field and then worked in the service station business for 27 years, always keeping his focus on service. After his service stations, he returned to school to receive his electrician certification and worked for Watson Electric and CertainTeed. He volunteered as a Boy Scout leader when his sons where younger. He was proud to be a leader and mentor to the boys. Mr. DeVillier was a past member of St. Margaret Catholic Church and currently a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. He was a Third and Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. He loved the New Orleans Saints, and was an avid hunter, fisher and golfer. He loved spending time with his friends, but most importantly, his family.
Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Nettie M. DeVillier of Lake Charles; two sons, Steve DeVillier and his wife, Teresa, of Lake Charles and Tony DeVillier and his wife, Darlene, of Covington; two sisters, Kat Soileau and her husband, Jim, and Dot Chapman and her husband, Charles, all of Ville Platte; three brothers, George DeVillier and his wife, Novella, and Danny DeVillier, all of Lake Charles, and Dowell DeVillier and his wife, Norma, of Carencro; six grandchildren, Juliane (Joe) Cauthron of Dickinson, Texas, Jeremy (Mayah) DeVillier of Moss Bluff, Vanessa (Felix) Favaloro of Marerro, Allison (Calvin) Forcey of Perkins, Oklahoma, April (Jason) Collins of Covington and Connie (Will) Smith of Alexandria; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Emma DeVillier; one sister, Mavis LaFleur; one daughter, Constance DeVillier; and one great-grandson, Keegan DeVillier.

Father Alan Trouille will officiate.
