Funeral services were held for Joseph Gabriel Fontenot, 88, of Ville Platte, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte at 4 p.m., Friday, February 5. Burial followed in the Evangeline Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Fontenot died Wednesday, February 3, 2016, at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Ville Platte.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel Fontenot of Ville Platte; two sons, Joseph Kenneth Fontenot of Houston, Texas, and Michael Araste Fontenot of Ville Platte; four daughters, Eileen F. Byars and Cynthia F. Hooper, both of Houston, Texas, Ramona F. West of Bayou Chicot and Carmalita Andrus of Opelousas; 16 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Araste and Emmarante Fontenot; twin brother, John E. Fontenot; and three sisters, Elna Pitre, Eva Comeaux and Elma Dupre.
