Joseph Lionel LaFleur

Funeral services will be held for Joseph Lionel LaFleur, 80, of Ville Platte, at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte at 1:30 p.m., Friday, May 15. Burial will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
A loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend, Mr. LaFleur died Monday, May 11, 2015, at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Ville Platte. Joseph, or Lionel as he was known by many, was an honest man with a great soul. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking and loved his family dearly.
Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Bernadette Fontenot LaFleur of Ville Platte; three sons, Tony LaFleur and his wife, Melanie, Brent LaFleur and his wife, Katherine, and Dwayne LaFleur, all of Ville Platte; one daughter, Lisa Thibodeaux of Ville Platte; one brother, Vernon LaFleur and his wife, Jeanette, of Ville Platte; and one sister, Barbara Chapman and her husband, Lionel, of Ville Platte. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Lilly Soileau LaFleur; and one brother, Charles LaFleur.
At the request of the LaFleur family, visitation will be held today, May 14, from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. and will reopen Friday, May 15, at 8 a.m. until time of services. A rosary will be recited in Mr. LaFleur’s honor this evening, May 14, at 6 p.m.
Father Mitchell Guidry will officiate.
