Joseph Ted Fontenot

BEAVER CREEK - Funeral services will be held for Joseph Ted Fontenot, 68, of Beaver Creek, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Pine Prairie at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 7. Burial will follow in the Delafosse Cemetery in Beaver Creek.
Mr. Fontenot died Sunday, June 1, 2014, at his residence. He was a carpenter, cattleman, horseman, commissioned deputy with Evangeline Parish Sheriff Department, member of the Beaver Creek Fire Department and Rainbow Trail Ride Association and a retired school bus driver. He also was a kidney donor to his son, Stacey Fontenot.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Fontenot of Oakdale and Stacey Fontenot and his wife, Cassandra, of Carencro; one daughter, Tessa Fontenot Coleman of Ville Platte; three brothers, D.L. Fontenot and his wife, Dorothy, and Alfred James Fontenot and his wife, Rena Mae, all of Oakdale, and August Randall Fontenot and his wife, Dorothea, of Beaver Creek; two sisters, Thelma Martin and her husband, Otis, of Columbus, South Carolina, and Theresa Fontenot of Silver City, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Taylar Deville, Casey Lane Fontenot and Tayton Coleman; the mother of his children and best friend, Mary Lou Fontenot; Great Auntie, Hazel Gradney Chretien; and a special nephew, Jeremy Mitchell.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Deo and Aniece Gradney; and his parents, Edmond and Gladys Fontenot.
Friends may call at Rush Funeral Home in Oakdale on Friday, June 6, from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m.
Father Richard Broussard will officiate.
