Joseph Verbis “Big V” Dupre

Funeral services will be held for Joseph Verbis “Big V” Dupre, 77, of Pine Prairie, at the Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel in Ville Platte at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 28. Burial will follow in the Vandenburg Cemetery in Bayou Chicot.
Mr. Dupre died Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at Prairie Manor Nursing Home in Pine Prairie.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Elta Charlie Dupre of Pine Prairie; two daughters, Pamela Dupre Franques and her husband, Jody, of St. Landry and Sue Dupre Ortis and her husband, Todd, of Pine Prairie; one son, Tony Dupre and his wife, Roxanne, of Bayou Chicot; and one brother, Lee-L Dupre of Plaisance. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his 11 grandchildren, James Dupre, Jacob Dupre, Ashton Dupre, Brittney Dupre, Lizzie Dupre, Mark Sanchez, Michelle Franques, Maegan Franques, April Dupre Godwin and Josiah Lee Ortis; and nine great-grandchildren, Paul Dupre, Nicki Dupre, Jackson Dupre, Jazmyn Tezeno, Chavez Tezeno, Christopher Dupre, Walker Godwin, Lillian Godwin and Ella Godwin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Armond and Atille Dupre; eight brothers; and three sisters.
Father Maine will officiate.
