Lawrence "Sidney" Ortego

Funeral services will be held for Lawrence “Sidney” Ortego, 83, of Ville Platte, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte at 10 a.m., Saturday, December 5. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Ortego died Thursday, December 3, 2015, at his residence. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Louisiana Teachers Association.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia “Patsy” Perron Ortego of Ville Platte; two sons, Thomas S. Ortego and his wife, Laurie C., of Lafayette and Paul E. Ortego and his wife, Laura L., of Ville Platte; four daughters, Deborah Arnold and her husband, Mark, of Rayne, Patricia Caluscos and her husband, Pablito, of Houston, Texas, Judy Muth and her husband, Robert, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Sue Shea and her husband, James, of Gulf Breeze, Florida; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Edna Langley Ortego; and one grandson, Matthew Raymond Arnold.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 4, from 4 p.m. - 9 p.m., with a rosary being recited at 6 p.m., and will resume again Saturday, December 5, at 8 a.m.
Father Tom Voorhies will officiate.
