Funeral services were held for Leroy Manuel, 86, of Ville Platte, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte at 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 15. Burial followed in the Old Ville Platte Cemetery.
Mr. Manuel died Saturday, April 12, 2014, at his residence surrounded by his loved ones. A proud veteran, Manuel served his country in the United States Navy and then in the United States Air Force, where he retired. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
Survivors include one nephew, Winston Fontenot and his wife, Micki, of Baton Rouge.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Amar and Marguerite Fontenot Manuel; two brothers, Nelson Manuel and Hugh Manuel; and one sister, Olenor M. Fontenot.
Father Brian Harrington officiated.
