BUNKIE - Funeral services will be held for Mary Nell Ortego Reed, 88, of Bunkie, at the Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home Chapel in Bunkie at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 16. Burial will follow in the Pythian Mausoleum.
Ms. Reed died Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at Grace Home in Alexandria.
Survivors include four children, Fernell Cryar and her husband, Richard, of Mandeville, Sarah Hall and her husband, Dale, of Collierville, Tennessee, Phyllis Eckerdt and her husband, Tom, of Collins, Colorado, and Melvin Reed of Bunkie; two sisters, Velma Richard of Opelousas and Priscilla Lafleur of Ville Platte; 13 grandchildren, Mary Katherine Cryar, Christopher Cryar, Ian Cryar, Erin Hegedus and her husband, Eric, Adam Hall, Emily Hall, Chase Eckerdt, Mackenzie Eckerdt, Madison Eckerdt, James Reed, Jalyn Plaisance and her husband, Allen, Cameron Reed and Lance Reed; and six great-grandchildren, Liam, Cohen, Preston, Luke, Caleb and Sienna.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman A. Reed; her parents, Melvin and Lorena Doucet Ortego; an infant son; and five siblings, Elvin Ortego, Joyce Lafleur, Gladys Buller, Nelson Ortego and Wilfred Ortego.
Pall bearers will be her grandsons, and honorary pall bearers will be her granddaughters.
