Ola Marie Thomas

Funeral services were held for Ola Marie Thomas, 86, of Fort Worth, Texas, at the Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel in Ville Platte at 12 noon, Friday, May 27. Burial followed in the Vandenburg Cemetery in Bayou Chicot.
Ms. Thomas died Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at Fleurdleys Assisted Living in Fort Worth, Texas. She retired from the Evangeline Parish School Board after a dedicated 42 years of teaching. She was a Garden Club member, as well as a member of St. Landry Baptist Church, where she served as a pianist.
Survivors include two daughters, Stephanie Atkinson and her husband, Patrick, of Burleson, Texas, and Mitzi Stroup and her husband, Steve, of Yukon, Oklahoma; one brother, Herbert Coates Jr. and his wife, Gaynelle, of Bayou Chicot; and two grandchildren, Ashley Atkinson and Cammie Ducote.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Bobby Joe Thomas; and parents, Herbert and Carrie Young Coates Sr.
Pastor Roger Whittington officiated.
