Ozeman John “Bob” Fontenot

MAMOU - Funeral services were held for Ozeman John “Bob” Fontenot, 81, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 7. Burial followed in the Reed Cemetery.
Mr. Fontenot died Saturday, April 4, 2015, at Pelican Pointe Nursing Home in Maurice. He was an oil field entrepreneur. He loved fishing, hunting and loved and owned racehorses. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He loved being with his family, outdoors and life.
Survivors include five children, William Fontenot and his wife, Jolene, of Youngsville, Todd Fontenot and his wife, Gwen, of Maurice, Valerie F. Tweedel of Oberlin, Lynn Wilson and her husband, Jim, of L’anse Meg and Rella Romero and her husband, Ritchie, of Maurice; two sisters, Rella Bertrand and her husband, Horace, of Lafayette and Geraldine “Jerry” Guillory; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Jane Manuel Fontenot; his parents, Bill and Eva Johnise Fontenot; one son, Nick Fontenot; one daughter, Gail Reed; one granddaughter; and one great-grandson.
The family extends their gratitude to the nurses and staff of third floor ICU at Lafayette General Medical Center and St. Joseph Hospice and Pelican Pointe Nursing Home staff.
