VILLE PLATTE – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, January 16, 2017 for Mrs. Ruby F. Rougeau at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. Father Taj Glodd will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Evangeline Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be at Ardoin’s Funeral Home from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, January 15, 2017. It will resume at 8 a.m. until time of service on Monday. A Rosary will be prayed by Deacon Ben Soileau at 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Rogeau, 97 and a resident of Ville Platte, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Prairie Manor Nursing Home surrounded by her family.
Rougeau worked for the Draft Board until after World War II. She then went to work for the Evangeline Parish School Board, where she was employed for over 35 years. Rougeau loved gardening and her coffee parties. She will be remembered as a kind, loving woman, who loved to help people. Rougeau will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son, John D. Rougeau, of Lafayette; daughters, Ina Claire Soileau, of Ville Platte, and Deborah Kay Lutz, of St. Landry; brother, Maynor Fontenot of Ville Platte; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dudley Rougeau; parents, Melvin and Eula Fontenot; son, Kermit Rougeau; brothers, Kermit Fontenot and Sheran Fontenot; and sisters, Robbie Deacon and Wille Mae Benson.
