Funeral services for Violet Iown Clopton Mitchell were held Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Calvary Baptist Church, Bayou Chicot, with Reverend Wayne Holston officiating. Interment followed in Ferguson Cemetery.
Mitchell, 82, of Bayou Chicot, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2016 in Mercy Regional Hospital in Ville Platte.
She retired from Chicot State Park after over twenty five years of service.
She is preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Oriah Dean Mitchell.
Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory include her two sons, Robert Dean Mitchell and his wife, Sherry, and Steve Mitchell and his wife, Amy, all of Bayou Chicot; one daughter, Violet “Sissy” Mitchell, of Bayou Chicot; seven grandchildren, Rebecca Mitchell, April Fontenot, Josh Mitchell, Chase Mitchell, Brandon Mitchell, Ericka Mitchell and Nicholus Mitchell; nine great-grandchildren, Reagan, Ryan, Jordan, Hunter, Garrett, Tripp, Carter, Zack and Rylee; and one sister, Gloria Kihnemann, of Metarie.
Rush Funeral Home in Oakdale was in charge of arrangements.
