VILLE PLATTE - Visitation for Wendell Manuel, 69, will be held Thursday, December 15, 2016 at LaVille Funeral Home in Ville Platte from noon to - 10 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m., and will resume again Friday, December 16, 2015 at 8 a.m. Funeral services will be held at noon Friday, December 16, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial to follow in the Evangeline Memorial Cemetery. Fr. Tom Voorhies will officiate.
Manuel, a resident of Ville Platte, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Opelousas General Health Systems.
Manuel was the owner of The Jungle Dinner Club, one of the founders of The Smoked Meat Festival, and a member of the VVA.
He will be deeply missed and forever remebered by his wife, Debra Manuel, of Ville Platte; son, Jody Manuel, of Lake Charles; daughters, Jill Manuel Kane and husband, William, of Lake Charles, Jamie Manuel Rogers and husband, Jamie, of Ville Platte, Jan Manuel Duplechain and husband, Neil; stepdaughters, Shawna Royer and Tricia Fontenot, both of Ville Platte; six grandchildren, Jordan Manuel, Jade Reed, Jonathon Nelams, Jaxtyn Manuel, Jayden Manuel and Jessip Fontenot; three step-grandchildren, Jodi Bellard and husband, Shannon, Allie Dupre and husband, Tristen, and Kade Lewis; four step-great-grandchildren, Reese Fontenot, Remy Bellard, Sara Bellard, and Raelyn Dupre.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Vergie Johnson Manuel; brother, Ted Manuel, and step-great -granddaughter, Kinlee Rae Brown.
LaVille Funeral Home in Ville Platte is in charge of arrangements.
