WILBUR JAMES ROZAS

CHATAIGNIER - A Memorial Service for Wilbur James Rozas, 79, will be held at a later date.
Rozas, 79, died Oct. 3, 2016 at his residence in Chataignier.
Rozas received an accounting degree from Soule’ College in New Orleans. He returned to Chataignier after graduating business college and managed the Rozas and Son Mercantile Store. A few years later, the Rozas brothers opened a cotton gin located behind the store, and Rozas was the primary accountant.
After his father died, he managed the Rozas farms of rice and cotton for many years. The next phase of his career, Rozas sold insurance for Western and Southern Life Insurance. He moved on to working at Savoy Medical Center as the Financial Clerk in the Business Department. In those same years, he was the Village of Chataignier Town Clerk as well as the Bookkeeper of Chataignier Water System for a total of 25 years.
He was married to Pamela Rogeau of Chataignier for 57 years. They have five children, 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Wilbur is preceded in death by his parents, Aliday and Lydie Rozas, his brother Bruce Rozas and great-grandchild, Brynn Reviere.
Rozas donated his body to Tulane Medical School.
