Woodrow “Woody” Deville

PLAISANCE - Funeral services will be held for Woodrow “Woody” Deville, 77, of Opelousas, at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas at 1:30 p.m., Friday, September 5. Burial will follow in the St. Andrew Church Cemetery in Plaisance.
A native of Ville Platte, Mr. Deville died Thursday, September 4, 2014, at his residence. He graduated from Ville Platte High School in 1955. He retired from Diamond Offshore Drilling after 42 years. He was a member of the Elks Lodge for 12 years. He was a parishioner of Our Lady Queen Angels Catholic Church, where he served as an usher for many years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, camping and spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Cassie Sonnier Deville of Opelousas; two sons, Randy Deville and his fiancé, Gina Paisley, of Opelousas and Mark Deville and his fiancé, Celeste, of Napoleonville; one daughter, Lisa Ann Deville of Opelousas; one brother, Pershing Jack Deville and his wife, Azelma, of Ville Platte; two sisters, Emma Jane Fontenot of Ville Platte and Barbara Adams and her husband, Elton, of Lafayette; four grandchildren, Julie Nicole Deville of Opelousas, Michael Bertrand of Ville Platte, Samantha Deville of New Orleans and Jessica Deville of Baton Rouge; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Carl Douglas Deville; his parents, Jamie and Anges Manuel Deville; one sister, Belle Fontenot; and one great-grandson.
Rev. Msgr. Keith DeRouen will officiate.
