Pitre’s men’s league lead slips in Week 10

The Eunice Mens’ Tennis League competition became a lot closer this week, as fourth-place Team D’Aubin dealt out a 9-5 blow to frontrunner Team Pitre.
On Court One, Troy Broussard and Chris Ardoin of Team D’Aubin scored a 6-1, 6-2 win over Team Pitre’s Jarvis Sam and Wayne Wimberly.
Jude Miller and Nicky Miller scored a split set win for Team Pitre with a 6-4, 5-7, 10-8 win over Team D’Aubin’s Nicky Moreau and Jason Hanna on Court Two.
On Court Three, Nick Frugé and Tom Dietz of Team D’Aubin defeated Team Pitre’s Jacque Pucheu and Monty Person 6-3, 6-2.
Team D’Aubin’s Pierre Martel and Dax Dupre won a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 split set against team captain Kenneth Pitre and Tim Longman on Court Four.
On Court Five, team captain Darren D’Aubin and Ricky Ortego defeated Brett Bergeron and John Pucheu of Team Pitre 6-3, 6-2.
Scoring a win for Team Pitre, Greg Gaspard and Jed Gaspard won 6-2, 6-0 against Ray Biessenberger and Melvin Bellow of Team D’Aubin.
In the other match of the evening, Team Manuel moved up to tie second place after defeating Team Moosa 8-6.
On Court One, Team Manuel’s Terry Hoychick and John Fontenot defeated David Clause and Russell Courville of Team Moosa 7-5, 6-2.
Team Moosa’s Keith Gil and Scotty Richard won a 7-5, 3-6, 10-6 split set against Scott Manuel and Nicky Miller of Team Manuel on Court Two.
On Court Three, Brad Courville and Father Tom Voorhies took a 6-1, 6-2 victory for Team Manuel over Team Moosa’s Donald Martel and Vernon Fuselier.
Team captain Gene Manuel and Chip Thibodeaux won a 6-4, 7-5 match against Team Moosa’s Randall Vigee and Phil Young on Court Four.
On Court Five, team captain Steve Moosa and Mike Conner defeated Team Manuel’s Randy Frugé and Dr. Zeb Stearns 7-5, 6-3.
David Harper and Jim Butler also scored a win for Team Moosa with a 6-2, 3-6, 10-8 split set victory over Team Manuel’s Dustin Ashford and Jed Gaspard.
