Pine Prairie and Mamou clashed on the softball diamond Wednesday afternoon. The Lady Panthers played host to a game that will probably have a serious impact on the final standings of District 6-2A softball. It was a nail biter as fans got to watch two great pitchers go head to head.

Pine Prairie hurler Chelsey Fontenot retired the first three batters she saw, and then got some help from her offense. Chelsea West led off the inning with a single. One out later, Alex Deville also singled, putting runners in scoring position. A double from third baseman Katie Reed pushed both runners across the plate.

Fontenot continued to abuse the Mamou hitters for the rest of the game. She gave up only two hits the entire ball game; a single to Sadie Fontenot and a double to Courtney Tate. Those were the only two Lady Demons to reach base the entire contest. Fontenot ended the day with 13 strikeouts.

Mamou’s Sadie Fontenot did a great job after the fist two innings. She managed to only give up five hits on the day and fan six batters. Pine
