PINE PRAIRIE - The purchase of a 2008 Ford F250 Super Duty truck was approved during the May 8, regular meeting of the Pine Prairie Village Council. Members approved the purchase, which will be used for maintenance throughout the village.

In his reports, Mayor Terry Savant stated he spoke with a representative of Ville Platte Medical Center about the status of the lease to build a satellite medical office in the village and learned plans for the project are moving forward. Savant added the building has been ordered and a nurse practitioner will be hired until a family doctor can be based at the facility in the future.

Todd Deville with Landreneau and Associates stated plans for the new community center will be submitted for approval by the USDA. Once funding is approved, advertisements for bids will begin. Deville also said the new sewer plant project was moving along well and told the council members the facility should be online by June.

In other business, the council:

•Approved the payment of monthly expenditures.

•Approved the minutes of the April 10, regular meeting.

•Heard the financial report from Village Clerk Allison McCollough.
