CROWLEY – Two people from out of state are facing charges after they snatched a woman’s purse in the Wal Mart parking lot Tuesday and then wrecked into a motorist as they attempted to escape.
Crowley police arrested Rafael Lane, 24, of St. Petersburg, Fla. and Kimberly Jones, 26, of Jesup, Ga. after they crashed into a vehicle on Oddfellows Rd. The two women in the car that was struck suffered minor injuries.
According to Crowley Chief of Police K.P. Gibson, the pair abandoned their car after the wreck near the intersection of Avenue J and 12th St. They were apprehended soon afterward.
Lane was charged with purse snatching and possession of stolen property over $300. Jones was charged with outstanding warrants, felony possession of stolen property, hit and run, and failure to report an accident.
Both are currently in jail awaiting arraignment.
The Post Signal earlier reported the wreck as a one car accident in their Wednesday edition. That was before police reports were available.
