Religious Feature for Easter Sunday

Rev. Jimmy Broussard;

“He is not here”

The Gospel for Easter Sunday recalls the meeting of the women with the angel. The angel’s words to the women at the tomb resonates to us on this Resurrection Sunday: “I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He has been raised, as He said. Come, see the place where He lay.” We are people of the Resurrection. The words of the angle remind us that we are not to continue to “exist” in our diseases, our sorrows, our troubles. We are not to stay in the tombs of our unforgiveness, hatred, racism, sexism, or other hindrances that keep us from experiencing Jesus face to face as the women did. We are called to be a people that take off our robes in mourning, our burial garments that weigh us down, and to leave them in the tomb as we walk out in Resurrection Power. He seeks to bring us hope, peace, joy and love. He calls us to live a life in abundance. Ma we, His children, seek to put off our robes mourning, walk out of our “tombs”, and live in the power of the Resurrected Lord.
