Residents reminded not to leave purses in vehicles

Ville Platte Police Chief Neal Lartigue is reminding all residents not to leave valuable objects, especially purses, locked inside their vehicles.

On Tuesday evening, officers responded to two vehicle break-ins, and in both cases, purses were taken from the vehicles.

As baseball season begins, Lartigue would like to remind residents to remember not to leave their valuables inside their vehicles. Females should remember not to leave their purses inside their vehicles while attending church, shopping, or running errands. This practice makes your vehicle an easy target for persons breaking into vehicles.

If you notice someone suspiciously looking into vehicles please report it to the police department at 363-1313. All callers will remain anonymous.

“We thank the public for assisting us in this matter,” Lartigue said. “Please be aware of your surroundings and don’t leave valuables, like purses, inside your vehicle.”
