Road proposed to connect Highways 13 and 1111

CROWLEY – During a recent meeting of the Crowley Planning Commission, the group touched on plans for a perspective service road connecting State Highways 13 and 1111. The proposed road would improve transportation, emergency services, and evacuation plans for Crowley and Acadia Parish as a whole. It would also enable residents to get from North Parkerson to Hwy. 1111 without getting on I-10.

The service road would not only connect the two highways, but the addition of businesses and other services to the area would also aid in economic development.

The meeting was held to engage the audience members in a solicitation of views on how the project could be implemented. Crowley City Engineer Tim Mader mentioned how this project was started by former Mayor Isabella delaHoussaye a short while back and that Mayor Greg Jones recently began to “shake the trees” to bring it back to the forefront.

The proposed connection will connect the two highways running north of I-10 from the area near the Tourist Commission Office on Hwy. 1111 to the North Cherokee road area which connects to North Parkerson.
