Rodney Johnson

GUEYDAN – Services for Rodney Johnson, 80, will be Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at 1p.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. He died March 2, 2008 at Capitol Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was the son of Eloc and Eumea LeMaire Johnson, born in Eunice. Father Mitchell Guidry will be officiating.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday. The interment will be in the Gueydan Mausoleum with full Military Rites.

Mr. Johnson was a retired Cropduster Pilot.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Potier Johnson of Gueydan; one son, Ronan Abshire of Carencro and wife Terri; one daughter, Elaine LeJeune of Crowley and husband Gene; two brothers, Lionel LeJeune and Dewey LeJeune; one sister, Bertha Mae Chaumont and husband Huey; seven grandchildren, James LeJeune and wife Desiree, Mike LeJeune and wife Christy, Cissy LeJeune and Troy Richard, Jessica Abshire, Rollie Abshire, Morgan Beadle and Wendy Britt; and ten great-grandchildren, Hunter LeJeune, Haleigh LeJeune, Kaitlin Pearet, Victoria Onebane, Logan Onebane, Mike LeJeune, Jr., Lexi LeJeune, Korey Chatagnier, Kaitlin Chatagnier and Peyton LeJeune.

Visitation will be Monday from 1:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 a.m. until time of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Eloi and Eumea Johnson; one sister, Molly Shermont Hurrel; one great-granddaughter, Hannah LeJeune; two brothers, Orie LeJeune and Jack Miller; and one sister; Irene Bosley.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Matthews & Son Funeral Home of Gueydan.
