Romero’s honored with 25th anniversary reception

Wilfred and Stephanie Romero of Crowley was recently honored with an anniversary reception celebrating their 25 years of marriage.

The couple was married on June 25, 1983 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.

Mrs. Wilfred Romero is the former Stephanie Ann Gotte of Crowley. She is the daughter of Jimmy Gotte and Josephine Hoffpauir, also of Crowley.

Wilfred Romero is the son of Wilfred and Shirley Romero of Rayne. He is employed with Drilling Solutions, LLC of Lafayette as an operations manager.

The reception was held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 21 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Crowley.

Mr. and Mrs. Romero are the proud parents of four children, Heather Romero of Rayne and Heidi, Trey and Dylan Romero, all of Crowley. They have one grandson, Schoen Desormeaux of Rayne. He is the son of their daughter, Heather.

On her special day, Mrs. Romero was lovely in a black halter dress accented with silver beads around the neckline and bodice. She was presented with a corsage of white sweetheart roses with silver embellishments complimented by a silver iridescent ribbon.

Her husband was handsome in a traditional ensemble consisting of black slacks and a long sleeved, silver dress shirt and tie. He wore a boutonniere very similar to his wife’s corsage. It was also made of white sweetheart roses with silver embellishments complimented by a silver iridescent ribbon.

The reception area was prepared to accommodate approximately 55 guests. Guest attended from Crowley, Rayne and Jennings.

As guests entered the hall, they approached the registry table that was decorated with the couple’s wedding portrait and a recently taken photo of them. The table featured the wife’s original wedding bouquet and ring bearer pillow, a 25th wedding anniversary poem plaque and three antique poreclain scrolls that featured the words, “Hope, Love and Joy.”

Guest tables were covered with silver tablecloths, along with a floral wreath of greenery and white miniature roses accented with a glass globe featuring iridescent stones and a silver floating candle. A wine barrel accented with vines and clusters of grapes completed with silver bows, provided by Elizabeth Borrill, was filled with a variety of wines for the guests to enjoy.

Guests enjoyed an array of different foods. The food menu consisted of sweet and sour meatballs, sweet and sour sausage, chicken salad sandwiches, pimento cheese sandwiches, shrimp rolls, a fruit and vegetable tray, boudin and a variety of crackers, chips and dips.

Mrs. Romero’s cake was a three-tier, round, double layered white confection with Bavarian cream filling. The cake was garnished with white roses and elegant lace and scrolling designed by Vanessa Watson of Daisy Cakes in Rayne. Her husband’s cake featured a square, double layered, chocolate delight with German chocolate filling. His cake was designed with an oilfield theme.

Her focal area was designed with a triple, french window pane effect accented with white sheers and silver satin toule draped along the top of each pane. Her decor was adorned with garland of greenery and white miniature roses. The cake table held several items from their wedding including the original cake knife set, wine bucket and toasting glasses.

Mr. Romero’s focal area contained a background of ficus trees and black cast iron pedestal candle holders placed on each side of the table. The table was decorated with his company hard hat and a ceramic stone plaque featuring miniature porcelain replicas of an oilfield rig, work boots and a hard hat. These were gifts that were given to him on his wedding day by his parents.

A DVD made by their daughter, Heather Romero, included photographs of memories the couple has shared during the past 25 years of their marriage, was viewed by all. Music for the event was provided by DJ Bobby Dupuis.
