Sacred Heart Lady Trojans fall to Class 4A power Beau Chene

The Sacred Heart Lady Trojans took a break from their district schedule last weekend to take on the Class 4A Beau Chene Lady Gators. Sacred Heart made the trip to Grand Coteau. It was a very close game with the home team taking a one run victory. Despite the 4-3 loss, the Lady Trojans are still in good shape to try and make the playoffs. They travel to Ville Platte High School today.

The ladies fell behind in the bottom of the first inning. Beau Chene’s superstar shortstop Ashley Ray capitalized on an error in the SHHS outfield and turned into to a run. She galloped all around the bases to score.

The Lady Trojans tied the game in the fourth inning. Samantha Davenport singled and advanced to third on a set of passed balls. She crossed the plate on a single from Sarah Dupre.

Beau Chene wasted no time in coming back. They plated two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. With one out, back-to-back walks set the table for the Lady Gators. A single pushed two across the plate and put BCHS up 3-1.

Sacred Heart showed their resiliency and made the comeback in their next trip to the plate. Davenport reached on an error with one out and Courtney Ramirez walked. Dupre delivered her second single of the night, scoring both runners. Dupre finished the day 2-3 at the plate with three RBIs.

BCHS broke the tie in the bottom of the seventh inning. Ray led off the inning with a single to right field. She advanced to second base on a wild pitch. Back-to-back fielder’s choices pushed the ULL signee across the plate, giving the victory to the Lady Gators.

Logan Hebert and Davenport both worked in the circle for SHHS. Hebert went four innings, allowing three hits and two runs, while striking out seven batters. Davenport went three innings, allowing two hits and two runs, while fanning four batters.
