Shaw to handle CIAP for parish
St. Martinville — The Parish Council on Tuesday, Feb. 19, gave a green light for President Guy Cormier to hire Shaw Environmental, Inc., to plan some $6.5 million in federally funded projects.
The council’s OK is not binding until a formal vote can be taken at next month’s regular meeting.
But in a meeting of the Administrative and Finance Committee, comprised of all the council members, Cormier asked for the adoption of resolutions turning planning of the $4 million Beau Bayou water quality and sediment reduction project, a $2.2 million Stephensville wastewater-assimilation-by-wetlands project, and $390,000 Bayou Amy boat ramp and pavilion over to the Baton Rouge engineering firm.
Funding for the projects comes from the federal Coastal Impact Assistance Program, or CIAP.
The Parish Council meets next in regular session March 4, at 5 p.m., in the parish annex building at 301 W. Port St., St. Martinville.
