Smith appointed to board by Jindal

BATON ROUGE- Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced appointments to the Parish Boards of Election Supervisors, which supervises the preparation and the conduct of elections within their respective parishes. According to the statute, each parish board of election supervisors is composed of the registrar of voters, the clerk of court, the chairman or designee of each parish-recognized political party, and a governor appointee. Albert Simien was reappointed to the board.

Appointments to Parish Boards of Election Supervisors:

Albert Simien, Sr., of Opelousas in St. Landry Parish, is currently a member of the Opelousas General Hospital Board of Directors and has served as a member of the Parish Board of Election Supervisors since 2004.

Irvin Smith, of Mermentau in Acadia Parish, is a retired Chief Deputy Acadia Parish Assessor and is also a former member of the Acadia Parish School Board.
