Smolarz, Hargrave make wedding plansWedding to take place in Galveston

Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Hargrave of Longview announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Kelli Brooke Hargrave to Dr. Joseph Ryan Smolarz, son of Dr. and Mrs. Gregory Smolarz of Texarkana.

Miss Hargrave is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Hensgens, and Mr. and Mrs. Vernice Hargrave, all of Crowley.

The bride-elect is a graduate of Longview High School and Texas A & M University. She received a master of physician assistant studies from UT Medical Branch at Galveston, after which she completed a PA residency in surgery at Norwalk Hospital-Yale University at MD Anderson Cancer Center in the department of plastic and reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Smolarz is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Casey Nix, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry “Hank” Smolarz, all of Paris, Texas.

The prospective groom is a graduate of Pleasant Grove High School and the University of Texas. He received a doctor of medicine degree from the UT Medical Branch at Galveston. He completed a general surgery internship at LSU Health Science Center in Shreveport. Ryan is currently a resident in the department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the UT Health Science Center at Houston.

The couple is planning an April 26 wedding in Galveston.
