The Evangeline Parish Recreational District will be hosting two huge tournaments within the next few weeks.
Starting on Friday June 24, the PONY softball sectional tournament will take place at the complex and will involve over 45 teams.
Then on Thursday July 7-10, the district will host the Dixie Youth State T-ball tournament.
For park director Thomas Scully, the ability to host these two tournaments was very important to the recreation district and the City of Ville Platte.
“Not only do these two tournaments give the complex a huge boost as far as recognition for the quality of the facility, but it also is a tremendous economic opportunity for the city,” said Scully. “It these two tournaments are a success, it will allow us to bring in more tournaments to the complex. But, it is a lot of hard work and it takes a number of people to run tournaments of this size.”
