Evangeline Parish prep basketball round up for 01/15/16

Several Parish schools took to the hardwood this past Friday night, all of them in district play.
Here is a round up of those games played.
Mamou (G) vs.
Welsh
The Mamou Lady Demons hit an amazing 12 three-point baskets on their way to a run-away 78-31 win over the Welsh Lady Greyhounds.
The Lady Demons never trailed in the game, outscoring the Lady Greyhounds 19-9 in the first quarter and lead 39-23 at the half.
Darelzeray Bellard poured in 27 points for the Lady Demons in the win.
With the win, Mamou is now 15-8 on the year and a perfect 3-0 in District 4-2A play. The Lady Demons have won their last five games in a row.
Mamou will host Vinton Tuesday night in another district game.
Ville Platte (G)
vs. Eunice
Ville Platte High used their athleticism to their advantage once again, as they pulled past Eunice High 63-44 here Friday night.
The Lady Bulldogs were down 14-13 at the end of the first quarter and lead by only three, 29-26 going into halftime.
However, a 14 point advantage in the fourth quarter allowed the Lady Bulldogs to put the game out of reach.
Kealogah Calvin topped all Ville Platte players with 21 points.
Ville Platte improves to 13-7 on the year and 3-0 in District 5-3A with the win.
Ville Plate will travel to Port Barre on Tuesday.
Pine Praire (G)
vs. Northwest
Pine Prairie High’s 29 point fourth quarter performance was not enough to overcome a 12 point deficit, as the Lady Panthers fell in a 60-58 heartbreaking loss to the Northwest Lady Raiders.
Pine Prairie fell behind 19-2 after the first quarter, but continued fighting to the end of the game.
Tori Bordelon led all Lady Panthers with 13 points.
Pine Prairie falls to 5-12 on the year and 0-3 in district and will host Church Point on Tuesday.
Pine Prairie (B)
vs. Northwest
Pine Prairie had no answer for an eight point deficit in the first quarter and took a district opening 80-64 loss to the Northwest Raiders.
The Panthers could only muster 12 points in the first quarter and 40-29 at the end of the half.
The Raiders outscored the Panthers 40-35 in the second half to close out the game.
Pine Prairie falls to 9-4 on the season and 0-1 in district and will host Church Point Tuesday.
