The Mamou and Pine Prairie Dixie Youth T-Ball All-Stars brought gritty play and an endless determination to the state tournament held in Ville Platte this past weekend.
Mamou went undefeated in pool play and was a first place seed headed into bracket play, while Pine Prairie was 2-2 in pool play and was the third place team when bracket play began.
Mamou was unstoppable the first five games of the tournament. The all-stars took on Bossier in their first pool game and proved to everyone why they were the district champions by blasting Bossier 17-2.
Pool game two was a little closer for Mamou, as they took a 21-10 win over Morehouse.
It took every ounce of energy for Mamou in their third pool game, having to come from behind in the final inning to defeat Alexandria American 20-19.
Mamou scored another close win in their final pool game; a 22-20 win over Shreveport National.
Mamou then proceeded to win their first bracket game against Pineville American by the score of 19-18. Unfortunately, the all-stars fell in their final two games; a 15-9 loss to Oakdale and a 7-5 loss to Shreveport American.
Pine Prairie started off with a heart breaking 25-24 loss to Pineville American, but came back to secure a 26-16 win over Winnsboro in their second contest.
The all-stars continued their winning ways by defeating Shreveport American 17-7. However, the last pool game was another barn-burner, as Pine Prairie suffered another one point loss, 22-21 to Haughton.
Despite the two tough losses, Pine Praire entered bracket play with high hopes. But, it was not to be as they fell to Sulphur in the first game.
