VPGSA 10U Rec All-Stars prepare for National Tourney

It is World Series time and the Ville Platte Girls Softball Association 10U Recreational All-Stars will be participating in that USSSA event in Gulf Shores, Alabama beginning on July 11.
Opening ceremonies for the World Series is slated for July 9.
But before the All-Stars travel to the shores of “Bama, they got to tune things up this past weekend in a preparation tournament.
That tournament turned out to be a successful endeavor for Ville Platte, as they took second place overall against some pretty stiff competition.
“There were some good teams out there this weekend,” stated head coach Nick LeBas. “We had to play teams that were in higher classes than us. But, the girls showed that they belong on the big stage and performed really well. This is a good test for us and I think the team is finally coming together at the right time.”
Ville Platte began the tournament with two huge pool play wins; a 9-1 win over Sweet Heat and a 6-0 blanking of Adrenaline.
The All-Stars followed that with a 7-0 loss to the Lady Hawks in their final pool game.
However, Ville Platte did not let the loss get them down. The All-Stars battled out of a 3-2 deficit to score two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and hold on to a 4-3 victory over Sweet Heat in their first bracket game.
A 5-3 loss to the Lady Hawks in game two of bracket play was followed by a nail-biting 1-0 win over Adrenaline. In that game, Ville Platte scored their only run in the first inning and had to hold on the rest of the way.
In the championship contest Ville Platte had to grind it out against the Lady Hawks once more. Despite only trailing 4-1 after the first inning, Ville Platte could not make up the difference and fell 8-1.
