Students team up for LEAP

CROWLEY – Providencia “Rita” Johnson, Crowley’s Main Street Manager recently met with and was interviewed by students in Ms. Patty Ronkartz’s and Darla Thibodeaux’s LEAP-UP gifted enrichment classes. Ms. Johnson shared information on the Main Street Program with special emphasis on Crowley. The students are currently piloting the Community Connections program in conjunction with Main Street Communities and The Louisiana Folklife Programs. The students have participated in on-line and primary documents research, walking tours of the community, and the creation of timelines, time capsules, and art work centered on historic buildings and monuments in the Crowley area.
