LAPLACE -- It did not go well for the Sacred Heart Trojan baseball team Friday afternoon, as they dropped the first game of a best two out of three series to the St. Charles Comets in the regional round of the Division III playoffs by the score of 10-0.

SULPHUR -- The Pine Prairie Lady Panthers inched one step closer to a Class 3A state softball title after defeating the Winnfield Lady Tigers 7-2 in the quarterfinals of the LHSAA State Softball Tournament here Friday afternoon.

OPELOUSAS -- After gaining a 3-0 lead to start the game, the Sacred Heart Lady Trojans could not carry that momentum farther, as they fell to the Opelousas Catholic Lady Vikings 5-3 in the regional round of the Division III softball playoffs here Thursday afternoon.

The Pine Prairie Lady Panthers are district champions once again.
After defeating Eunice High on the road 17-0, the Lady Panthers finish District 5-3A play with a perfect 10-0 record.
And with that win, Pine Prairie is sure to improve on their No. 5 power point ranking.
