Team Pitre grabs slim lead

Team Pitre seized a narrow one-point lead last week, knocking down Team Moosa with a 8-6 victory in Week Eight of Eunice Mens’ Tennis League play.
On Court One, Team Pitre’s Jarvis Sam and Chris Duplechin won a 6-0, 6-2 victory over David Clause and Jason Hanna of Team Moosa.
Jude Miller and Wayne Wimberly also scored a win for Team Pitre with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Team Moosa’s Keith Gil and Adam Bass on Court Two.
On Court Three, Donald Martel and Vernon Fuselier scored a win for Team Moosa with a narrow 7-6, 7-5 victory over Team Pitre’s Jacque Pucheu and Monty Person.
Team captain Kenneth Pitre and Tim Longman won a 6-0, 4-6, 10-7 split set over Team Moosa’s Randall Vigee and Phil Young on Court Four.
On Court Five, team captain Steve Moosa and Scott Eckholt scored a 6-3, 6-3 win against Al Marks and Greg Gaspard of Team Pitre.
Also scoring a win for Team Pitre, Jed Gaspard and John Pucheu won a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 split set over Team Moosa’s Mike Conner and David Harper on Court Six.
In the other action of the week, Team Manuel pushed closer to the leaders with a 8-5 win over fourth-place Team D’Aubin.
On Court One, Terry Hoychick and Dr. John Fontenot of Team Manuel won a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Team D’Aubin’s Troy Broussard and Chris Duplechin.
Team Manuel’s Nickie Miller and Scott Manuel scored a 6-3, 7-5 win over Nicky Moreau and Jason Hanna of Team D’Aubin on Court Two.
On Court Three, Brad Courville and Steve Dischler of Team Manuel defeated Team D’Aubin’s Nick Frugé and Tom Dietz in a 6-3, 0-6, 11-9 split set victory.
Team captain Gene Manuel and Chip Thibodeaux won a 7-6, 6-2 victory over Team D’Aubin’s Willie Glasscock and Dax Dupre on Court Four.
On Court Five, team captain Darren D’Aubin and Ricky Ortego won a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Randy Frugé and John Carpenter of Team Manuel.
Also scoring a win for Team D’Aubin, Ray Biessenberger and Melvin Bellow won a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Team Manuel’s Dr. Zeb Stearns and Dustin Ashford on Court Six.
