Team Sam continues to lead in ELTL Week 8

Week Seven of Eunice Ladies Tennis League play was postponed due to high winds and has not yet been made up, but Week Eight saw Team Sam hold onto the lead with a 9-8 win over Team Richard.
On Court One, Team Richard’s Tina Duplechin and Cynthia Tanner won a 7-6, 3-6, 6-2 split set over Nisha Sam and Felicia Allen of Team Sam.
Team Sam’s Janet Prudhomme and Cindy Turk scored a 7-5, 6-2 win over Ellen Myers and Sheila Rheams of Team Richard on Court Two.
On Court Three, Ann Latiolais and Blanche Fontenot won a 6-3, 6-1 victory for Team Sam against Team Richard’s Doreen Miller and Yvonne Vasseur.
Scoring points for Team Richard, Lynn Maybry and Shelly Miller scored a 6-2, 6-1 win over Team Sam’s Joan McManus and Liz Ortego on Court Four.
In the the other match of the week, second-place Team Manuel closed in on pole position with a 12-5 win over fourth-place Team Tupper.
On Court One, Team Tupper’s Bonnie Butler and Ann Roberts won a 6-0, 7-5 victory over Lita LeJeune and Jeanine Kibodeaux.
Team Manuel’s Kay Dietz and Robin Bellard won a 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 split set against Team Tupper’s Laricia Poullard and Germaine Courville on Court Two.
On Court Three, team captain Cheryl Manuel and Melissa Reynolds scored a 6-2, 6-1 win over team captain Connie Tupper and Martha Guempel.
Also scoring a win for Team Manuel, Ching Wasmuth and Cindy Burge defeated Team Tupper’s Katie Young and Jean Higginbotham in a 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 split set on Court Four.
