The Ville Platte Housing Authority board approved funding for five people, three residents and two employees, to attend a PHDEP (Public Housing Drug Elimination Program) field trip during its special meeting Tuesday, June 17.

The board approved spending $1,062, approximately $200 per person plus fees, to attend the trip, which is destined for Texas. In total, the board learned 28 people are going on the trip, which was organized by Lula Richardson. The field trip will include visits to Six Flags, a museum and Sea World, among many others.

Board member David Ortego asked Executive Director Emily Woodall to check in with the housing authority’s insurance carrier to learn if its liability insurance will cover those five people wherever they go.
