VP Police respond to 746 calls in March of 2008

The Ville Platte Police Department responded to a total of 746 complaints for the month of March, of which 215 required reports, according to Police Chief Neal Lartigue.

The following is a list of complaints: theft, break-in, burglary, criminal mischief, vandalism, domestic abuse, missing person, vehicle damage/break-in, simple battery, switched plate, suspicious person, missing medication, theft of utilities, property damage, harassment, criminal damage, burnt floor, fighting, unauthorized use, robbery, hit and run, simple escape, burned child, lost cell phone, property damage, aggravated battery/assault, unauthorized entry, sexual assault, child abandonment and obscene calls.

A total of 52 citations were written in the month of March. Citations ranged from: driving under suspension, speeding, loud music, no proof of insurance, open container, failure to use signal, expired sticker, burnt headlight, careless operation, expired license, failure to register vehicle, no seat belt, no driver’s license, following too close, flight, parked in a fire zone, hit and run, expired motor vehicle inspection, failure to yield, disobeying a stop sign, curfew violation, no rabies vaccination, improper turn with an accident and running a red light.

Ville Platte Police officers arrested a total of 95 people for the month of March. Arrests included the following charges: simple battery, possession of marijuana, no driver’s license, flight from an officer, careless operation, remaining after being forbidden, criminal damage, unauthorized entry, telephone harassment, disturbing the peace, possession of stolen items, aggravated assault, theft/shoplifting, driving under suspension, theft, threatening an officer, battery/threatening an officer, public intoxication, simple obstruction, theft of a water meter, possession of cocaine, resisting, no registration and drug paraphernalia.

The Ville Platte Police worked a total of 42 accidents in March.
