VP Police respond to 880 calls in February of 2008
The Ville Platte Police Department responded to a total of 880 complaints for the month of February, of which 121 required reports, according to Police Chief Neal Lartigue.
The following is a list of complaints: theft, break-in, burglary, criminal mischief, vandalism, domestic abuse, aggravated battery/assault, missing person, vehicle damage/break-in, simple battery, dog bite, switched plate, suspicious person, missing medication, theft of utilities, property damage, harassment, criminal damage, stolen money, personal injury, fighting, recovered television, cut tires, hit and run, mail tampering, missing wallet, lost cell phone, stolen purse, natural death, unauthorized entry, sexual assault, unauthorized use and child abandonment.
A total of 55 citations were written in the month of February. Citations ranged from: driving under suspension, speeding, loud music, no proof of insurance, disobeying a stop sign, curfew violation, following too closely, expired sticker, burnt headlight, careless operation, expired license, failure to register vehicle, no seatbelt, open container, failure to use signal, no rabies vaccination, flight, parked in a fire zone, hit and run, expired motor vehicle inspection, failure to yield, failure to report an accident, no driver’s license, drag racing, improper turn with an accident and running a red light.
Ville Platte Police officers arrested a total of 61 people for the month of February. Arrests included the following charges: simple battery, possession of marijuana, no driver’s license, flight from an officer, careless operation, remaining after being forbidden, theft, criminal damage, violation of a protective order, unauthorized entry, telephone harassment, disturbing the peace, possession of stolen items, aggravated assault, theft/shoplifting, driving under suspension, no registration, threatening an officer, forgery, battery/threatening an officer, public intoxication, simple obstruction, theft of a water meter, possession of cocaine, contributing to a minor, resisting, carnal knowledge of a juvenile, domestic abuse, hit and run, drug paraphernalia and theft of prescription drugs.
The Ville Platte Police worked a total of 47 accidents in February.
