A Ville Platte woman is facing aggravated robbery charges after allegedly robbing an 85-year-old man.
Lt. Craig Nichols, Ville Platte Police Department, reported officers charged Charlotte Lewis, 29, 113 E. Long St., Ville Platte, with aggravated robbery. He said authorities believe Lewis flagged down an 85-year-old man on Northeast Railroad Street, Thursday, June 5, and asked him for a ride.
At approximately 9:12 a.m., she allegedly got into the truck and attacked the man, cutting him on the arm, possibly with a knife. At this time, Lewis allegedly removed $700 in cash from the man’s wallet and fled the scene. Officers located her and took her into police custody.
Nichols said they recovered some of the cash at that time. At the station, they found the rest of the money in Lewis’ clothes.
Lewis was booked into the jail. The elderly man was treated at a local hospital.
