A joint investigation by the Ville Platte Police Department and enforcement agents with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries led to the arrest of three area men.

On February 26, Lt. John B. “Chip” Matte, chief of detectives for the Ville Platte Police Department, said the department received a complaint from a local air conditioning business that several units behind the store had been taken. There was a surveillance video, which after it was reviewed, Matte said three suspects were identified.

As a result of the investigation, charges of theft were filed against Dennis McQueen, 31, 297 Peace Road, Ville Platte; Jody Bordelon, 50, 402 Peace Road, Ville Platte; and Leland Guidry, 38, 5278 Highway 167 North, Ville Platte. Matte said during the investigation, concerned citizens reported finding air conditioner parts within the City of Ville Platte and on the outskirts.

The game wardens were contacted. They were able to file gross littering charges against Bordelon and Guidry after discovering air conditioner parts were stripped from the units and discarded along the side of the road.
