VPPD releases details about recent crash

The Ville Platte Police Department recently responded to a crash on U.S. Highway 167.
In a release from Ville Platte Police Chief Neal Lartique, he stated that around 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2017, “officers with the Ville Platte Police Department responded to a two vehicle accident on US Highway 167 East.”
The chief’s release went on to state that “upon arrival, officers found a Ford van in the East bound lane of Hwy. 167 and a GMC Sierra in the grass south of 167.”
The GMC Sierra “traveled backwards over 51 feet before coming to a stop.”
According to the release, the “van came to a stop after facing East,” after “rotating counter clockwise upon impact.”
Chief Lartigue has advised that “this incident is still under investigation and the detectives are waiting for toxicology reports for both drivers.”
He also ask residents to call the police department at 363-1313 to report any suspicious behavior or criminal activity. All callers will remain anonymous.
