Willis, two Bengals invited to NJCAA All-Star week

MILLINGTON, TENN – LSU at Eunice head baseball coach Jeff Willis and two of his players from the NJCAA National Championship team have been invited to the NJCAA All-Star Game at USA Stadium.

Willis, making his second appearance in as many years in the All-Star dugout, will be joined by Bengal centerfielder Delta Cleary and pitcher Ryan Boudreaux.

Cleary and Boudreaux are part of a team of All-Americans and All-Stars from the Division II ranks. The 22-member team will play a series with the Taiwan national baseball team between June 20 and June 22.

Cleary finished 2008 with .407 batting average, 10 home runs and 32 stolen bases. He was named as a first team All-American by the NJCAA. Cleary also earned one of only nine Rawlings Gold Glove awards for the 2008 season.

Boudreaux had a 2.79 ERA and was 12-1 on the mound for the Bengals, including going 2-0 in the NJCAA World Series. He was named as a second-team All-American.

The Bengals won their second national title in three years in May.
