LEONA DEVILLE FONTENOT

November 5, 1926 - April 14, 2008

A memorial service was held for Leona Deville Fontenot, 81, of Ville Platte, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 19.

Retired from Evangeline Bank, Ms. Fontenot died Monday, April 14, 2008.

Survivors include one son, David Keith Fontenot and his wife, Lisa; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac “Chubic” Fontenot; one son, Robert Brett Fontenot; and one grandson, Joseph Fontenot.

JOSEPH EMILE COREIL

March 16, 1919 - April 17, 2008

Funeral services will be held for Joseph Emile Coreil, 89, of Ville Platte, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte, at 9:30 a.m., Monday, April 21. Burial will follow in the Old Ville Platte Cemetery.

Mr. Coreil died Thursday, April 17, 2008. He was a scholar who devoted his life to public service. He was one of the last attorneys to enter the Bar through private study. He served two terms in the Legislature after his election in 1962. He also served as City Judge and then District Court Judge. Finally, he served on the Third Circuit Court of Appeal at special appointment by the Louisiana Supreme Court. He was a great raconteur and historian who loved his family

Survivors include four nieces, Lucy Mae Cantelli of Opelousas, Sr. Bernice Coreil and Ruth Gilly, both of Slidell, and Diana Perrodin of Lake Charles; one nephew, Jacques Coreil and his wife, Ethelyne, of Ville Platte; four grand nieces, Karren Ryder and her husband, David, of Washington, Elise Dantin and her husband, James, of Slidell, Jeanne Lehner and her husband, Robert, of Houston, and Melissa Reich and her husband, Scott, of Houston, Texas; and two grand nephews, Clifford Acosta Jr. and his wife, Richelle, of Hammond and Curtis Robert Perrodin of Moss Bluff. He was especially fond of two great-grand nieces, Tatman Ryder Savio and her husband, Phillip, of Washington, D.C. and Coreil Ryder of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Marie Louise Coreil; one sister, Marie Louise Jeanne Coreil; and five brothers, Jules Otis Coreil, Mayo Coreil, Jacques Robley Coreil, Albert Malvin Coreil and Frank Coreil.

Family request that visiting hours be observed today, April 20, from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again on Monday from 7 a.m. until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. this evening.

Father Gene Tremie will officiate.

ALLEN RAY JOSEPH MILLER

EUNICE - Funeral services were held for Allen Ray Joseph Miller, 53, of Eunice, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 19. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mr. Miller died Thursday, April 17, 2008, at Eunice Community Medical Center.

Survivors include his mother, Joyce (Darbonne) Guidry of Eunice; his wife, Barbara (Labbie) Miller of Eunice; three sons, Robbie Miller and his wife, Andrea, and Brad Miller and his wife, Cady, all of Eunice, and Joey Miller and his wife, Jeneane, of Pine Prairie; three sisters, Tracey Dupre of Ville Platte and Kathy Miller and Lisa Smith, both of Eunice; one brother, Richard Miller of Eunice; two grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Elvin Miller.

Quirk and Son Funeral Home of Eunice was in charge of arrangements.

IRMA PIERROTTI

MAMOU - Funeral services will be held for Irma Pierrotti, 98, of Mamou, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou at 11 a.m., Monday, April 21. Burial will follow in the New St. Ann’s Cemetery.

Ms. Pierrotti died at 8:40 a.m., Friday, April 18, 2008, at Savoy Medical Center in Mamou.

Survivors include one nephew, Vernon Brownell and his wife, Claudia, of New York; one step-daughter, Sis Thorton of Clearwater; and four nieces, Voy Bigelow and Ina Morton, both of New York, Fern Tilsley of Maine and Mae Prindle of Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jules Pierrotti.

Father Pius Vallooran will officiate.
