MAMOU - Funeral services were held for Steven Roderick "Dicky" Young, 80, of Mamou, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou at 1 p.m., Friday, October 19. Burial followed in the New St. Ann’s Mausoleum.

A wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Mr. Young died Wednesday, October 17, 2012, following a short illness. He was a life-long self-employed merchant, owning the Cester Young’s Appliance Store in Mamou. He was the fire chief of the Mamou Volunteer Fire Department for many years, as well a board member of Citizens Bank. The things that brought Dicky the most joy in his life were gardening and woodwork, but most importantly, he loved spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Juanita Fuselier Young of Mamou; three loving sons, Randall Young and his wife, Jerri, and Robin Young and his wife, Missy, all of Mamou, and Rhett Young and his wife, Sally, of Ville Platte; three daughters, Melinda Lodge and her husband, Richard, of Shreveport, Melody Pierrotti and her husband, Marion, of Mamou and Manon Deloach and her husband, Ernie, of Vidrine; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Cester and Orena Manuel Young.

Father Mark Melancon and Father Harold Trahan officiated.
