sheriff's office reports 23 recent arrests

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office reported 23 recent bookings into the parish jail.
Arrested were the following persons:
•Joshua B. Fontenot, 27, 2611 Edgewood Drive, Ville Platte, was charged March 12, with aggravated second degree battery. Fontenot was being held in jail on a $75,000 bond at press time.
•Laura Marie Pelican, 36, 109 Seventh St., Mamou, was charged March 10, with theft by fraud and identity theft. Pelican was released from jail on a $3,000 bond.
•Tyran Tykell Freeman, 18, 419 Pine Ave., Opelousas, was charged March 11, with improper lane change, driving left of center, refusal to take a chemical test and DWI (second offense). Freeman was released from jail on a $1,500 bond.
•Doreen F. Leonard, 52, 3599 Pine Point Road, Ville Platte, was charged March 10, with simple battery. Leonard was released from jail on a $1,500 bond.
•Brenda W. Skinner, 50, 212 Chestnut St., Mamou, was charged March 11, with aggravated assault and simple escape. Skinner remained in jail on a $3,000 bond at press time.
•Mark Clifton Miller, 32, 464 Suzie Drive, Eunice, was charged March 9, with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated rape. Miller was being held in jail on a $500,000 bond at press time.
•Brian Keith Roberts, 35, 513 Maple St., Mamou, was charged March 13, with distribution of crack cocaine (three counts). Roberts was being held in jail on a $225,500 bond at press time.
•Sally Elizabeth Blackmon, 43, 12259 Veterans Memorial Highway, Ville Platte, was charged March 13, with introducing contraband into a penal institution (two counts). Blackmon was released from jail on a $2,500 bond.
•James S. Deville, 40, 705 E. LaSalle St., Ville Platte, was charged March 13, with theft (five counts). Deville was released from jail on a $20,000 bond.
•Michael Wayne Celestine, age unknown, 1913 Chatagnier Road, Ville Platte, was charged March 13, withattempting or aiding to obtain assistance fraudulently. Celestine was released from jail on a $5,000 bond.
•Micki Campbell Lavergne, 38, 113 Seventh St., Mamou, was charged March 13, with theft by fraud and forgery. Lavergne was being held in jail on a $35,000 bond at press time.
•Darold James Cole, 25, 5757 Crooked Creek Parkway, Ville Platte, was charged March 15, with domestic abuse battery. Cole was released from jail on a $5,000 bond.
•Lakel Menard, 181 Monique St., Ville Platte, was charged March 14, with DWI (first offense), improper backing, improper lane change and failure to stop at stop sign. Menard was released from jail on a $1,351.50 bond.
•McQuita S. Fontenot, 29, 103 E. Magnolia St., Eunice, was charged March 15, with careless operation, child endangerment, no child restraint and DWI (first offense). Fontenot was released from jail on a $1.500 bond.
•Justin Reynold Veillon, 20, 3407 Stagg Ave., Basile, was charged March 16, with disturbing the peace, possession of alcohol under age 21, remaining after being forbidden and resisting an officer. Veillon was released from jail on a $10,000 bond.
•Taylor B. Gautreaux, 21, 1024 Joshua St., Fort Worth, Texas, was charged March 16, with simple damage to property, no MVI, driving under suspension and no driver’s license. Gautreaux was released from jail on a $1,091.50 bond.
•William King, 1023 Cemetery Road, Turkey Creek, was charged March 16, with domestic abuse battery second degree. King remained in jail on a $100,000 bond at press time.
•Mitchell Fontenot, 51, 1008 Pecan St., Mamou, was charged March 16, with simple criminal trespassing. Fontenot was released from jail on a $5,000 bond.
•Haley Bias, 33, 605 E. Long St., Ville Platte, was charged March 17, with unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling. Bias was released from jail on a $10,000 bond.
•Quintin Jacob Boutte, 29, 1006 Weeks St., New Iberia, was charged March 17, with felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile. Boutte was being held in jail on a $20,000 bond at press time.
•Johnnie Glenn Sanders, 31, 165 Hideaway Road, Opelousas, was charged March 18, with unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling and simple criminal damage to property. Sanders was released from jail on a $20,000 bond.
•Malcolm Jawaski Smith, 24, 301 E. Long St., Ville Platte, was charged March 18, with battery of a police officer, obstruction of public passage, public intoxication and resisting arrest (two counts). Smith was being held in jail on a $10,000 bond at press time.
•Nathaniel James Savoy, 37, 900 N. Wilson St., Church Point, was charged March 18, with simple burglary (two counts), malfeasance in office, malfeasance evidence tampering, second degree injuring public records, filing of maintaining false public records, tampering with surveillance systems and simple criminal damage to property. No bonding information was available.
